In May, Mechatronic AG CEO Thomas Ullmann took part in the 2nd national conference as part of the strategy process “Innovations in Medical Technology”. Since 2012, he has been one of the specially appointed experts from the health, business and scientific sectors tasked with formulating prospects for the German health system.

This process was jointly initiated by the Federal Ministry of Health, the Federal Ministry of Education and Research, and the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy. Its aim is to increase the competitiveness and innovative prowess of medical technology. The experts from the various working groups also issue recommended actions to improve patient care and to enhance the efficiency of healthcare systems. The project also gave birth to the information platform

Ullmann, who is a member of the working group From Development to Pilot Run Production, regards the strategy process as a major opportunity: “Digitalisation is revolutionising medical technology. Telemedicine, eHealth, digital medication and health apps are already a reality. Not only do we need to respond to new technologies, but we also have to think ahead about what comes next and adapt the framework conditions accordingly.”
